Retail in the Time of Covid-19

We’ve all had to relearn what normal is for now. We’ve had to make changes. People are adjusting, and while we adjust, we’re all improvising. 

Our Offering

For retailers who are operating as “pick-up” locations right now, we are providing a service that will make sales go quicker and easier, allowing your customers to “walk through” your business in a virtual 3-D model.

Tayloe/Gray can create a 3-D Virtual Reality model with high-quality images. Here’s an example  model of Bike Cycles (INSERT LINK TO BIKE CYCLES). These models are accessible by any web browser window (even on one’s phone). By directing your customers to this model, they can walk through your retail location at their leisure, see your offerings, and create their own shopping list. We can embed information in the model for your customers as well; ways to reach you, links to information about your products or your business. The 3-D scans can be done after your normal operating hours so we can capture the model with the least inconvenience.

Hindsight is 20/20 eCommerce

Some retailers were more prepared for this type of emergency. A good eCommerce site provides a portal for your customers to easily connect to your brand and your merchandise. However, eCommerce sites are not created overnight. Good ones take time.

Drive-thru Retail?

For many of our friends in retail, there have been two choices: Close up and wait this out, or move to some kind of drive-up service. Neither choice is ideal. Many stores have customers waiting outside while the store representative goes to retrieve the order. This removes “impulse buy” items from consideration, and makes choosing a particular item out of a variety of similar products quite challenging. Many consumers need to wander through a store to find all the items they would otherwise purchase.

An added worry is if customers find it cumbersome to order from a local retailer, they will go to Amazon. If they become accustomed to online shopping and free shipping, they may not come back to brick-and-mortar stores when this crisis has ended.
